2.       Host - Compaq

Mr. Weyer introduced the conference hostess, Joyce Fox Bedford of Compaq.  Joyce announced the social events taking place during the week – the Monday Newcomers Welcome taking place that evening followed by dinner, the Murder Mystery Dinner Show taking place Tuesday evening for the Quarterly Dinner, and the 5K Run on Wednesday morning.  Compaq is providing lunch every day in the Aspen Room.

3.          Nominations for Board of Directors

Elections for the Board of Directors come up in November.  Those whose term of election is expiring include Ken Broz, who resigned, Dave Weyer and Stephenie Cooper.  Nominations should be directed to Bill French.  If a person is nominated and chooses to accept the nomination, he or she needs to be prepared to give a speech addressing why he/she is running and why people should vote for you.  Kim Albera will prepare a ballot and collect the votes prior to the November conference where the result of the election will be announced.

4.          Theme

Bill French addressed the group to announce the Theme – “Incorporating XML into Your eBusiness Toolkit”.  The guest speakers include Richard Adler of Coordinated Computing who is giving a presentation Tuesday morning on the “Market Dynamics Tool”.  Wednesday morning is “iHub Business Model:  Sharing Data through the Supply Chain” by Stephenie Cooper of Hewlett-Packard, Catherine Carey of Motorola, and Thy Nguyen of Cisco Systems.  Wednesday afternoon theme speakers include Kevin Kyles of MSX International on “Innovation in the Automotive Supply Chain”, Christopher Johnson of GE Global exchange Services on “Achieving 100% Trading Partner Participation”, and Dave Hollander of Contivo, presenting “W3C Finalizing the Specs for XML Schema”.

5.          Subcommittee Chair Presentations

Roger Trout presented for Promotion & Education, Ed Gallagher for Business Process, Linda Zavecz for Guidelines & Standards, and Barb Gooding for Technology.  Each explained the function of their subcommittee and the sessions that were planned for the rest of the week.

6.          Hosting

Kim Albera announced that Cyclone Commerce was hosting in November.  EIDX and CompTIA will be hosting in August and she asked the group where they’d like it to be held.  Various suggestions were forthcoming.  At this point the two main locations being considered are Santa Fe and Atlanta.  Kim explained that since we do four conferences a year, we’re always in need of hosts.  She explained the benefits of hosting and asked the members to feel free to contact her for more information.

7.       5K Run, Walk or Crawl

Dave asked Barb Gooding to tell the group about the 5K Run.  Barb was filling in for Bob Kokko who usually leads the Run.  The event takes place Wednesday morning at 6:30 am and Barb will post the route on the bulletin board.  She showed the shirts donated by CompTIA and suggested that people buy the shirt for $15, which would be donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

8.          Closing and Adjournment

In closing, Dave Weyer presented Joyce Fox Bedford of Compaq with an EIDX Plaque in appreciation for hosting.  Stephenie Cooper presented a short, fun presentation with voice assist from Chuck Caveney titled, “In The Beginning”.  The meeting adjourned at 3:00 PM.
